Phillip Bolte had his sea legs before he was old enough to walk. He was six weeks old the first time his mother secured his bassinet down below her sailboat, sending Phil, as he is known to his friends, on a course for a lifetime of boating. At an early age, he learned an appreciation for the freedom that comes from being out on the open water, and although he was born on land, it is safe to say he practically grew up on water.
His Hometown
Having grown up in Port Clinton and lived on the shores of Lake Erie most of his life, it is only natural that Phil is so passionate about boating. Since he was seven years old, Phil has been tooling around the waters of the lake. First, it was on a rowboat in the harbor and then a motorboat and finally a powerboat. He enjoys the peacefulness of being out on the water and it seems he is discovering something new and exciting each time he explores the local waterways or visits his favorite island destinations.

Going “Fore” It
When this dynamic businessman is not busy with his career, he either sets a course for Put-In-Bay or heads for the golf course at the Catawba Island Club. Phil can credit his love for boating to his parents and his passion for golf to his grandparents. Before he was taller than his grandmother’s putter, Phil was standing beside her on the green lining up a 10-foot putt. He was fortunate enough to compete on the golf team in high school and college and credits the experience for teaching him responsibility, perseverance, honesty and, as anyone who plays the sport will attest, humility.
